Tundra
A plain is a flat area of land. Some of them are very cold. Not many types of plants can grow. They have no trees and very few animals. Plains like this are called tundra.
There are two types of tundra, Arctic and Alpine. The Arctic tundra starts at the north pole and reaches down to the tree line. Alpine tundra is the high area of mountains. It is too cold for trees there, and the soil cannot support most plants.
