Bring the reading sample into the assessment conversation.

1. Confirm the authorized workflow. Use the appropriate educator or organization account and complete the required school authorization or parent consent before recording a student.
2. Choose the passage deliberately. Record its level, whether it is new to the student, and the purpose of the reading.
3. Keep conditions consistent. Check the microphone, reduce background noise, and give the same instructions across comparable sessions.
4. Review flagged words. Listen to the audio before using an automated error count to plan instruction.

Repeated reading is useful for practicing a particular passage. Label those sessions as practice when you keep records. A faster rereading of a familiar text is not directly interchangeable with a first reading of a new selection.

For progress conversations, compare similar text difficulty and administration conditions, and record changes to either. Consider more than one sample alongside other classroom evidence.

Words per minute describes rate. Words correct per minute adjusts a counted reading for word errors. Accuracy describes the share of counted words read correctly. Be explicit about the measure you report and the scoring conventions you used.
