Trains
A train is a series of cars that are connected. The first trains were pulled using horses. Before 1800, horses pulled trains carrying coal, iron, and other goods. The first steam train was built in 1804. By 1850, trains could travel 50 miles per hour. Since the invention of trains, trains have been a critical part of modern life.
Trains move along railroad tracks. Most train tracks have two rails. Trains carry people or cargo. A passenger train carries people. A freight train transports cargo or goods. Some trains carry both people and cargo at the same time.
