Tide Pools
The tide comes in every day. It floods over everything. When the tide goes back out, some of the tidal water gets trapped. It forms permanent puddles known as tide pools.
Tide pools occur where the ocean meets the shore. Sometimes the pools form on rocks. Sometimes they are on mudflats or sandy areas. Some are just a few inches deep. Others are a few feet deep and a few feet across.
