Snow Land
After I left the town, the blue sky became cloudy. A few flakes of snow began to fall, then more and more came down. Soon they covered the old snow that was already plenty deep. My horse was traveling fast, because he knew what I did not: a big snowstorm was coming! After a while, the snow fell so thick that I could see nothing ahead. I let the horse go as he pleased. He knew how to get home.
The next morning it was still snowing. On the road, many snowplows were at work leveling the snow. These plows were triangular, made of heavy timber braced with crossbeams. They were generally from eight to ten feet wide at the back, the broadest part, and over fifteen feet long. They were pulled by four horses and attended by two men. The plows were followed by heavy rollers of wood to pack the snow.
