The Hopi

The Native American tribe called the Hopi has a long history on the North American continent. These people are believed to have lived in the same area for the past 2,500 years. Their name means “Peaceful Ones.” Most Hopi today make their home on a large reservation in Arizona.

In the early centuries when they came north from Mexico, the Hopi people were hunters and gatherers. Typically, men went out hunting, while the women’s tasks included taking care of the children and gathering edible plants.
