Sunflowers
A field of sunflowers is a beautiful sight. Thousands of yellow blossoms with brown centers stand on straight, thick stems. Besides looking pretty, sunflowers are also useful. Humans use many products made from these plants.
Sunflowers grow in North America and Central America. They got their name because their heads look like the sun, a big circle with golden rays around it. People have been growing these plants for a long time. Scientists have found sunflower seeds in Mexico that are over 4,000 years old.
