Robotics

The use of robots is expanding rapidly into many different areas. Robots can be sent to explore places that are unsafe for people. They are sent into outer space, like the probes and rovers that have been sent to Mars. Although we are not yet ready for humans to travel to Mars, we can launch robots that send information back to Earth. Robots also go deep in the sea where there’s too much pressure for divers to survive.

Automobile manufacturers use robots in place of “crash test dummies” when they analyze how safe their cars are. Robots can register specific stress and damage during a crash that provides vital information to the design engineers.
