Mount Fuji

In the middle of Japan, mountains rise. The highest of all is Mount Fuji. Its snow-covered peak is perfectly shaped.

Like many other mountains in Japan, Mount Fuji is an active volcano. It stands where three plates of the Earth’s crust meet. Volcanos were formed as the crust broke into plates, a process that began long before there were plants and animals on Earth.
