Mars Rovers

Mars has always sparked our imagination. Humans have dreamed up alien creatures and called them “Martians.” No wonder, since Mars is the closest planet to Earth. It’s natural to wonder what it’s like.

Thanks to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), we have learned about Mars. NASA launched the Viking 1 Mars Lander in August of 1975. When it reached Mars, it orbited and took pictures. Then it landed on Mars. It took more photos on the ground.
