Kwanzaa

Kwanzaa is one of the least well-known American winter holidays. It is not a religious holiday. Kwanzaa is an American festival that honors African American culture. It is celebrated the last week of the year, starting on December 26, and ending on January 1. It began in the United States but is now celebrated in other areas of the world.

Kwanzaa was created by Dr. Maulana Karenga in 1966 as part of his fight for equal rights for African Americans. Even though slavery was not allowed after the Civil War, African Americans still faced a lot of difficult times gaining equal rights.
