Jane Austen

In 1775, most people thought only men could be novelists. That was the year Jane Austen was born. During her life, she proved that women can write wonderful stories too.

She grew up in a village in England. She had six brothers and one sister. Her father was a clergyman and teacher. He taught his kids and other village children at their home. There were always books around. Austen loved to read.
