Galileo's Telescope
Born in Pisa, Italy in 1564, Galileo Galilei was one of the most original and innovative scientists of his time. His discoveries and theories in astronomy and physics were so important that they affected the sciences for centuries to come.
Among Galileo’s most important accomplishments is his work based on his observations of the stars and planets. Amazingly, telescopes were just being invented and refined. A skilled instrument maker himself, Galileo designed, refined, and built many telescopes that he used in his work.
