Camouflage
Not every animal can fight to defend itself. Some are safer if they hide from danger. Animals that hunt also find it useful to hide. It helps them surprise their prey. Camouflage is how animals blend in with their background. Their fur or skin has coloring that makes them hard to see. Camouflage is also used in the armed services. For safety, soldiers wear clothes colored like leaves or sand.
There are two types of camouflage in the animal kingdom. One is permanent coloring that looks like an animal’s natural habitat. The other is an animal’s ability to change color to match the place where it is.
