Expressing ourselves is good for our mental health. One way to help with our problems is to talk about them. Other types of expression are just as important. An art therapist helps people work through their problems by helping them create art.
Art can be a coping skill. An art therapist teaches clients to express themselves by making or creating things. People working with art therapists make paintings or drawings. They create sculpture, pottery, or jewelry. They write poetry, songs, instrumental music, or even plays. Any kind of art can help.
